Our Reality
Our democracy and our students face real dangers: cuts to health insurance and food aid, rising gun violence in schools, attacks on LGBTQ+ and immigrant rights, bizarre rules imposed by the federal government on truthful history teaching, and enrollment drops that threaten school closures. Denver needs a school board that will restore strong oversight and hold district leaders accountable for protecting every child and teacher. In this fragile moment, we must ensure every DPS student graduates safe, supported and ready to thrive.
Caron’s Priorities
Why Caron is Running
We must put children’s well-being back at the center of every decision, and re-build trust among our school community through listening, transparency and accountability. Public school families should know that every child is seen, supported, and challenged because the school board holds district leadership to the highest standards and empowers teachers to bring their best to every classroom.
Caron Believes…
Our children have unlimited potential and deserve adult leaders who know how to put their well-being before politics and personal agendas. We must re-evaluate district priorities and the way that decisions are being made so that excellent academics go hand-in-hand with school safety and meeting students' physical and mental health needs.
In office Caron will:
Support families’ ability to choose the right school for their child, while ensuring that all schools in the district are consistently excellent
Protect the autonomy of classroom teachers from new federal curriculum mandates
Work tirelessly to improve and protect core services such as special education, multilingual learning and early childhood education
Close the achievement gap by improving academic achievement and social emotional outcomes for all students.
Work in partnership with the Colorado State Legislature to identify new school funding opportunities to protect the quality and integrity of our schools.
Increase early intervention services for children, while improving protections and creating an advocacy system for children with identified learning differences.
Listen to students, parents, and teachers—especially those often unheard—to inform and guide school board decisions
Demand accountability and transparency in decision-making and communication.
Prioritize physical, emotional and academic safety for all students and teachers
